Padel in Alicante

Playing padel in Alicante
In Spain the sport of padel is growing like never before. Along the costa, padel is sport número dos. So there’s a wide choice of courts, equipment and good coaches in Spain! Are you coming here to play padel? Then read below what I can organize for you. Whether you already have experience or not yet; I’ll make sure you go home like a pro!

Where can I play padel?
Red Padel Alicante
I’ve been working with Red Padel in Alicante for quite some time. This club has a real family feel. There are no fewer than 7 outdoor courts to play on. In between you can enjoy an ice‑cold drink at the bar or on the sunny terrace. These courts are at the Maristas sports complex, just outside Alicante. From the center you’ll be here by car or taxi within 10 minutes. There are no padel courts in Alicante city center. You’ll find some at residential complexes, but no big clubs. And besides, I simply love working with Red Padel. Everything is always arranged down to the last detail, great coaches and a super cozy vibe. And I can always rely on them. Pretty nice in a country where mañana mañana is more the rule than the exception.

Padel explained
Learning padel in Spain
The best way to get the hang of this fun game is of course to take padel lessons in Spain. These are taught by Red Padel’s professional coaches. They speak good English and are very motivated and enthusiastic. Even beginners who’ve never had a single lesson can really hit some nice balls after just a few sessions!
Court : A padel court is half the size of a tennis court and is surrounded by glass walls. The surface is usually artificial grass.
Rackets : Padel rackets look like tennis rackets, but they’re smaller and have no strings. They’re usually made of composite materials such as carbon fiber.
Ball : The ball used in padel is similar to a tennis ball, but slightly smaller and with less pressure. This results in slower speed and more control during play.
Rules : Padel is usually played doubles, although singles is also possible. It’s played under rules similar to tennis, with a few variations, such as being allowed to play the ball off the walls and serving underhand.

Where do we stay during our padel adventure in Alicante?
Would you prefer everyone together in a nice apartment? Or rather a luxe hotel? There’s plenty of choice in Alicante. My advice: when coming with a group, stay in Alicante center. In the evening you can stroll straight into town for an ice‑cold drink after an intensive day of padel! Get in touch for options and I’ll think along with you!
Rent a car
Want to drive yourselves to the padel courts? Then rent a car with Sunny Cars at the airport.

Padel is played at every level in Spain

How do you choose the right padel racket?
With this popular sport has come an ever‑growing variety of gear. Different types of padel rackets, clothing and shoes. Do you choose a round‑shaped racket, a teardrop shape, or a diamond‑shaped racket? It all depends on your budget and your playing level. On the website bestelpadel.nl you’ll find a very extensive blog about this that can help you make your choice.
If you’re coming to Spain to play padel but don’t yet have your own gear, you can of course rent it at the courts. The same goes for padel shoes. They aren’t essential if you’ve never played and are just going to try it for a few days in Spain. But if you’ve caught the bug and want to move smoothly around the court and prevent injuries, take a look at this selection and don’t skimp on a good pair of shoes.
