Friends Weekend in Alicante

I’m getting more and more requests to organize friends’ weekends in Alicante. The reason is clear: the chance of sun is high (320 days a year), the tickets are cheap, there’s plenty to do, and Alicante is still affordable. What is there to do in Alicante

Alicante is a great city for a weekend getaway with friends, family, your sisters‑in‑law, or your sports club. I always say you can compare it a little to Eindhoven: big enough to do lots of things and everything within walking distance. From your hotel you stroll to the old center for tasty tapas. Then you head on, towel over your arm, to the beach at Playa del Postiguet to SUP, swim, or do a team activity together in the warm water.

You can dine at a Michelin‑starred restaurant, but also in a tapas bar where only locals go. Eat paella with your feet in the sand, or sip a cold cerveza with your amigos in the shade of an ancient ficus. Alicante truly has something for everyone.

A complete plan for your friends’ weekend

Of course you can figure out where to go in Alicante on your own. But I wouldn’t recommend it. You’re more likely to land on just the wrong terrace while the place next door is much nicer (and often cheaper). And via Pinterest or Instagram it’s often a bit harder to find those local gems — exactly where you want to be during your friends’ weekend. That’s why I create a custom itinerary .

What are nice group accommodations?

Alicante has many apartments you can rent. One example is Bárbara 3 right in the middle of the nightlife district . Good and affordable is Guesthouse Antonio, in the center. You can book per room or rent the entire complex. Each room has its own bathroom and mini‑fridge, and the apartment also has its own kitchen. Or try Casa Luz, suitable for 5 to a maximum of 6 people. If you’re looking for a house, check Airbnb in the area called “Vista Hermosa.”

Best group activities

What can groups do in Alicante? First of all, the wonderful bike tour guided by a Dutch local — the perfect way to get to know the city. Book it via this link . I also regularly give guided tours through the old town up to the castle. It’s a nice one‑hour walk and then you’re atop the beautiful Castillo Santa Bárbara with views over the entire Costa Blanca.

There are also great paella workshops in Alicante, SUP and surf lessons, team sports on the beach, beach volleyball, padel, yoga, wine tastings — in short, too much for one weekend! People who know me know I’m sporty and the outings I organize often have an active character. No hurdles to jump — but a motivated, enthusiastic group is usually the recipe for a successful weekend!
