The best Christmas tips in Alicante 2024

Alicante is a wonderful city to experience Christmas. Although there’s no real snow, the city does everything to create a winter vibe: thousands of lights, photocalls, beautifully decorated streets and restaurants, and loads of activities you shouldn’t miss this Christmas break. And as you may have seen already — I made an **Advent Calendar**! Where to be and when: you’ll read it in this Christmas blog full of cozy tips in Alicante.

These are the 3 most beautiful hotels in Alicante:

→ ☆☆☆☆ Meliá Alicante

→ ☆☆☆☆ Hospes Alicante

→ ☆☆☆☆ Boutique Palacete

What to do on New Year’s Eve in Alicante

Update 27/12/2024

What’s on during the Christmas holiday:

Where to celebrate New Year’s Eve:

Note: there is **no** consumer fireworks sale in Spain. Fireworks are handled by licensed companies at central points.

Logozo in Playa San Juan: club, live music, beautiful outdoor bar.

Note: **6 January** is a public holiday in Spain (Epiphany). Shops are closed. On 5 January, stores that are open will close early due to the parades.

→ See the **most beautiful villas** in Alicante

→ See the **best B&Bs** in Alicante

Christmas will be one big party again this year in Alicante. From the moment the lights are switched on **on 29 November**, the program runs continuously until after Epiphany in early January.

Coming to Alicante in November, December or January? Read in this blog where to find all Christmas hotspots. Want to know what the **weather** is like around these dates? Then check this page.

There’s once again a special **Alicante Like a Local Lights Tour** so you don’t miss any highlight.

About Christmas in Spain: Christmas is celebrated in a big way in Spain — but it’s still just **two** days: **Nochebuena** (Christmas Eve) and **Navidad** (Christmas Day). When the Netherlands celebrates Boxing Day, Spaniards are already back at work! So if you’re in Spain for Christmas, you can still go out for a sunny terrace or go Christmas shopping on December 26 — most things are open.

In the **Alicante Advent Calendar** you’ll find a full list of my shop favorites in Alicante: the nicest boutiques and stores!

Note: this page will be supplemented further in the coming weeks — check back regularly for the up-to-date program!

Christmas Lights Walk

Just like last year, thousands of Christmas lights will be hung across Alicante — and there’s a **giant** Christmas tree. There’s so much to see! I’ve created an updated route you can do with the whole family (wheelchair- and stroller-friendly).

Download it to your phone now — **only €4.95**.

♥ Along the way you’ll get tips for warm chocolate or a typical Spanish holiday sweet.

♥ New addresses and new route — fully up to date for **2024**!

♥ No aimless wandering — just exactly the nicest way to discover Alicante at Christmas.

On **Friday 29 November** the lights are switched on in the city at 19:00 on **Plaza de la Constitución**. There’s always music and thousands of people singing Spanish carols — very special!

Every evening the lights go on at **19:00** across the city and stay on until **01:00** at night. On holidays like Epiphany they stay on until **04:30**.

Visit the Christmas markets

Do you have a moment? Because Spain loves Christmas markets too! Maybe the craving for hot chocolate and **Glühwein** is a bit less without sub-zero temperatures, but a nice vino with Spanish Christmas music is pure joy at these spots:

♥ **Town Hall Square Christmas Market** — a classic. From **1 December 2024 to 5 January 2025** you’ll find beautiful handmade decorations, unique gifts and tasty treats like traditional **turrón**. Daily **11:00–21:00** (Plaza del Ayuntamiento).

♥ **Crafts Market on Plaza de Gabriel Miró** — for truly original gifts. From **6–24 December 2024**, **10:00–14:00** and **17:00–21:00**. Extra fun: kids’ activities and live music!

♥ **Christmas Zoco at the Central Market** — a mix of fresh food, handmade products and cultural activities on **14–15 December 2024**, **11:00–18:00**.

♥ **Three Kings Market** on the **Paseo de Gómiz** — where Spaniards buy last-minute gifts on **5 January 2025**, **10:00–20:00** by the sea.

You’ll find even more great restaurants in the **Alicante Advent Calendar**. Festive decor, lights, and atmosphere — not always a given in Alicante due to tradition and the climate! The Advent Calendar also includes cozy coffee bars for the day after Christmas when you can relax with a good cappuccino.

2) **Torre Mauro**

Where to stay — the nicest accommodations

Winters aren’t freezing in Alicante, but around Christmas you still want a place that can be heated well and feels cozy.

Recommended accommodations:

* **Apartamentos Teatro by Be Alicante** — heating, 2–3 people, central location

* **Villa in El Campello** — in **Coveta Fumà**, near the sea, 15 minutes from Alicante center; renovated in 2021

On **this page** you’ll find the most beautiful **holiday homes** in Alicante, family villas in **El Campello** and cottages in the **inland** of Alicante.
