Alicante’s climate is typically Mediterranean: mild winters, hot dry summers and very little rainfall. It’s a favourite among sunseekers and winter visitors alike.

Although the weather is generally reliable, climate change is noticeable — October, once known for heavy rain, is now often completely dry.

Spring (March – May)

Daytime temperatures range between 18 °C and 25 °C. Cool mornings, warm afternoons. It’s the ideal season for walks, cycling or day trips to the mountains.

Summer (June – October)

Mild and sunny, with mornings around 8 °C and afternoons reaching 18 °C. Rain is rare and the skies stay mostly clear.

Alicante–Elche Airport (ALC) is located just 9 km from the city centre and officially belongs to Elche.

It’s a busy, modern airport — nearly 800,000 passengers passed through in February 2024 alone.

Its location right next to the motorway makes onward travel easy:

• 40 minutes to Benidorm
• 45 minutes to Alfaz del Pi or La Nucía
• 60 minutes to Jávea or Dénia

There’s currently no tram connection from the airport to the city, though the tram is ideal between El Campello and Alicante.

By taxi to the city centre

Taxis are available directly outside the arrivals terminal. There’s only one terminal, so they’re easy to find.

During high season it can get busy, so to avoid waiting, book in advance with Taxi2Airport.

By tourist bus C6 Bus C6-bus connects the airport directly with Alicante city centre. Tickets cost € 3.85 (one way) and can be bought on board.

You’ll be dropped off at Puerta del Mar , at the start of the Explanada boulevard.

Timetables show “Sábados y días laborales desde el aeropuerto” (weekdays & Saturdays) and “Domingos” (Sundays).
