Egg donation clinics in Alicante

In Alicante there are several specialized **egg donation clinics** known for their professional approach and high success rates — up to 98% within three attempts. Very high indeed. These **fertility clinics in Alicante** offer personal guidance and modern treatment methods for both IVF and egg donation. It’s impossible to name a single “best” IVF clinic in Alicante. I always say your trust in the clinic is the most important factor: feeling that you can walk in with peace of mind, voice your story, and believe the clinic can help you further. Emotional and physical stress is killer during an IVF journey. Big names in Alicante include Instituto Bernabeu, IVF Life Alicante, and IVI Spain. All offer egg donation; some have Dutch-language support.

What is egg donation and why choose Spain?

All about egg donation

Egg donation is a fertility treatment in which one woman donates eggs to another woman who has no (usable) eggs herself but would like to become pregnant.

This may be necessary due to early menopause, genetic disorders, medical treatments such as chemotherapy, or as a result of age. With IVF (in-vitro fertilization), the donated eggs are fertilized with sperm from a partner or donor, after which an embryo is placed in the recipient’s uterus.

A donor undergoes hormone treatment to mature multiple eggs at once. The recipient’s body is prepared with medication for a possible pregnancy. The medical pathway for the recipient is much milder than for the donor. The body must be prepared to receive a pregnancy, but this isn’t as heavy as the medication the donor must take and inject.

Egg donation is an intensive, emotional journey, but it’s a successful method with a high success rate.

These are the main differences between egg donation in Spain and the Netherlands:

Alicante is one of Spain's most popular cities for fertility treatments thanks to:

  • Anonymous egg donation and an extensive network of donors.
  • Short waiting lists: At UR Vistahermosa, you can always get an intake appointment within a few weeks.
  • Affordable rates for IVF and egg donation compared to the Netherlands.
  • New techniques such as ROPA (for lesbian couples).
  • Short travel times and cheap flights from the Netherlands.

FAQ about fertility treatments in Alicante

How often do I need to visit the hospital?

For egg donation, twice. The first time is for intake: bloodwork is taken, an internal ultrasound is performed, sperm cells are frozen, and of course there’s the consultation with the gynecologist.

What does egg donation cost in Spain?

As an indication: egg donation starts at €7,400. Add costs for medication, flights, and accommodation. Some hospitals include medication; at others you pay separately for consults. In the end, prices are almost the same everywhere.

What aftercare do I get after egg donation?

After the procedure you must have blood drawn within two weeks to see if you’re pregnant. If you are, you can make an appointment with your own gynecologist or midwife in your city. For questions you can always contact UR Vistahermosa, of course. But from there the care continues with a regular midwifery practice.

Which medication does UR Vistahermosa prescribe?

This varies per person. The treatment plan is put together based on your blood report and medical advice. You can already take basic medication from Spain so you’re sure to have it in time and the right brand. Other medication can be ordered from the Netherlands or obtained from a Dutch pharmacy — such as the pill.

Who can I call with questions?

The hospital is available 24/7 in emergencies. By email you’ll always receive an answer within 72 hours. Are you pregnant? Then in emergencies you can contact your own midwife.

What’s the difference between IVF and ICSI?

In both IVF and ICSI, eggs are fertilized outside the body in a laboratory, but the difference lies in how fertilization takes place.

In both cases the fertilized eggs (embryos) are later transferred to the uterus.

How long is the wait time for IVF in Spain?

Wait times are short. Intake can take place within two weeks. After that it depends on your medical situation how long the trajectory takes. That is, perhaps a cyst must first be removed, maybe you need a treatment before IVF can start, etc. The UR team will of course do everything to keep your wait as short as possible.

How is my donor chosen?

Did you know **Vista Hermosa** uses Fenomatch? That’s a technique that matches all your desired physical characteristics with a potential donor. Pretty special, right? The choice of donor is therefore made very carefully and computer-assisted. You can of course specify preferences yourself — for blood type, skin tone, etc.

Fertility clinic experiences in Alicante

A question I’m often asked. I advise finding other couples via dedicated forums. Data is anonymous with us unless couples share their story on websites. Note: you’ll often read only negative experiences online. I’ve seen patients not take their medication correctly, then not become pregnant, and blame the hospital.

How quickly can I start treatment?

Wait time at UR Vistahermosa is short — especially if you let me arrange the appointment. I’ll quickly determine who suits you best and who can see you quickly. This can be within two weeks. But it doesn’t have to be — six months from now is fine too. Prefer a Zoom with the doctor first to see if the hospital can even help you? Totally fine; I can arrange that for you as well.

My experience at UR Vista Hermosa Hospital

Twelve years ago I worked in the international department at **UR Vista Hermosa Hospital** in Alicante. There I guided foreign clients from A to Z: from arrival at the airport to intake, treatment, and aftercare.

But when I became a mother myself to daughter number two, combining family life with that stressful, busy job abroad was no longer feasible. I did miss the work, though. It was and is very special to be allowed to do this, to get so close to someone and be a small bright spot during this exciting journey. I therefore decided to guide only Dutch patients — and I did so via Kinderwens Alicante.

That gave me **more** time for personal attention. But now, after these 12 years, I decided to stop this guidance as well — despite the high demand. Running **two jobs** abroad became a bit too much.

I have good contacts with the team of professionals at UR Vistahermosa and I’m still in close contact with them. Want to hear from me why you should choose Alicante or what relaxation options there are — places to unwind, beautiful beaches, lovely massages, etc.? What I can do for you

The hospital’s **website** is currently only in English. But treatment abroad raises many questions. Would you like to simply hear from me why you should go to UR Vistahermosa and what my **experiences** are with other Dutch couples?

  • That’s possible via a **telephone call** or video call. I’ll answer your first questions and schedule your intake appointment. I’ll make sure you receive the right intake forms.
  • I’ll forward you to the **right person** in the international department whom I think suits you best. I’ll ensure they contact you as soon as possible, that you get the correct intake forms, and that you get an appointment online or at the hospital as quickly as possible. This can be within a few weeks.

A laboratory is located in the same hospital. When a donor donates her eggs, for example, she is also treated in this hospital.
