Golfing on the Costa Blanca: the best golf courses and resorts

Sunshine, a pleasant climate and plenty of golf courses within a relatively short distance of each other: the Costa Blanca is a fantastic destination for golfers. Whether you have been playing for years, want to improve your handicap or simply want to pick up a golf club for the first time during your holiday, there are plenty of options here.

The region is home to more than 20 golf courses, as well as a wide range of hotels and resorts specifically geared towards golfers. And the great thing is that golfing here does not have to mean spending your entire holiday at a golf resort. You can spend the morning on the course and the afternoon at the beach, exploring a charming town or enjoying some tapas.

In this blog, we have selected some of the most beautiful golf courses on the Costa Blanca. We will also show you where to stay if you want to turn your golf trip into a complete holiday, and introduce you to a Dutch PGA golf professional who offers golf lessons in both Dutch and English .

Bonalba Golf; Mutxamel

Around 15 minutes from Alicante, you will find Bonalba Golf in Mutxamel. The 18-hole course sits slightly higher up and offers views towards the Mediterranean from various points. With water features, bunkers and large greens, it is a varied course suitable for both recreational golfers and more experienced players.

Golf and accommodation are easy to combine here. Hotel Bonalba Alicante is located right next to the golf resort and offers special golf packages combining accommodation, breakfast and green fees. The hotel also has a swimming pool, wellness facilities and restaurants.

This means you can stay in one place for several days while enjoying multiple rounds of golf.

La Sella Golf; Dénia

In the north of the Costa Blanca, close to Dénia and Jávea , you will find La Sella Golf . The course consists of three nine-hole loops, making a total of 27 holes. You play among Mediterranean vegetation, with Montgó Natural Park and, from various points, the Mediterranean Sea as your backdrop.

La Sella is ideal if you want to turn your golf trip into a complete holiday. Right next to the course is the La Sella Golf Resort & Spa , where you can stay, relax in the spa and simply walk onto the golf course. The course is only a few minutes' walk from the hotel.

And when you are ready for a break from golf, you can be in Dénia or Jávea within around ten minutes for an afternoon by the sea or a relaxed evening out.

Alicante Golf; Playa de San Juan

Prefer to stay close to Alicante? Then Alicante Golf is an interesting option. The course itself may be less spectacular than some of the courses further inland, but its location is a major advantage . The golf course is close to Playa de San Juan, putting you within easy reach of both Alicante city centre and the beach.

You can stay at Hotel Alicante Golf , right next to the golf course. No need to get in the car first thing in the morning before starting your round.

Villaitana Golf; Benidorm

Just outside Benidorm, Villaitana Golf is a striking golf resort with two 18-hole courses designed by golf legend Jack Nicklaus. The courses are set between the mountains and the Mediterranean and offer beautiful views of the surrounding landscape and the skyline of Benidorm .

You can also stay at Meliá Villaitana , giving you everything you need for a few days of golf and relaxation. The resort also has swimming pools, restaurants, a spa and various other facilities.

Villaitana is also a good option if not everyone in your group plays golf. While you are out on the course, there is plenty to do at the resort or in nearby Benidorm.

La Finca Golf Resort; Algorfa

Looking for a few days where golf takes centre stage? Then La Finca Golf Resort in Algorfa is a great option. You do not have to piece your golf holiday together yourself: the golf course, accommodation, restaurants, spa and various sports facilities are all in one place.

The 18-hole course is surrounded by greenery and the hills of southern Alicante, with extensive practice facilities including a driving range, putting greens and a chipping area. After your round, you can head straight to the pool, spa or restaurant.

You can stay at the 5-star hotel at the resort , making La Finca particularly suitable if you want to get away for a few days and combine golf with relaxation. In short, this is a place where you do not simply come for a round of golf – golf is part of the whole holiday experience.

Alenda Golf; Monforte del Cid

West of Alicante, near Monforte del Cid, you will find Alenda Golf . The 18-hole course is set among the hills and was designed to blend naturally into the surrounding landscape.

Alenda is particularly interesting if you want to combine a day of golf with a stay in the Alicante countryside. From here, you can also easily explore places such as Elche or the vineyards around Alicante.

Planning to play several different courses during your stay? The location is also convenient for reaching several other golf courses in the province.

Font del Llop Golf Resort; Monforte del Cid

Also near Monforte del Cid, around 20 minutes by car from Alicante, you will find Font del Llop Golf Resort . The 18-hole course is set in a beautiful valley surrounded by Alicante's hilly landscape.

The great thing about Font del Llop is that you are not just coming here to play golf. It is a proper golf resort where you can organise your entire stay around the course. There are also extensive practice facilities, including putting and chipping areas. After your round, you can enjoy a meal at the restaurant or explore the surrounding area, including Alicante and Elche .

A great choice if you want to spend several days on the course during your holiday.

Golfing around Orihuela Costa

Want to try several different golf courses during one holiday? Then the Orihuela Costa is worth considering. Several golf courses are located relatively close to each other, including Campoamor Golf , Villamartín Golf , Las Colinas Golf & Country Club and Las Ramblas Golf .

You could, for example, book accommodation on the coast and play a different course each day. This way, you can combine a golf holiday with the beaches, restaurants and lively towns of Orihuela Costa.

At Campoamor Golf , you can also stay at Hotel Golf Campoamor , making it easy to combine golf and accommodation. Las Colinas is another option for those who want to combine golf with a more luxurious Costa Blanca holiday. The course is set in a green valley and forms part of an extensive resort. It is not just about playing a round of golf – you can stay here, enjoy a meal and make use of the resort's facilities.
